Healing Justice Framework

Healing Justice is...

A legacy of Southern, Black feminist, queer, and Indigenous revolutionaries who have always known that healing is inseparable from the work of ending systemic oppression. We honor the wisdom of the Kindred Collective, who seeded this framework and affirm that healing is integral to our vision of justice.

An organizing strategy that addresses the layers of generational trauma and violence our communities have been living with, and asks us to bring collective practices of transformation into our work.

A pathway to cultivating collective safety, care, and accountability within marginalized and criminalized communities – for us, by us.

A commitment to organize towards:
  • Decarceration and keeping our people free
  • Holistic and abundant community-based mental healthcare
  • Stable and affordable housing for all

Healing

Healing is the ongoing process of becoming whole.
Healing occurs on the emotional, spiritual, physical, and community levels. It is self-determined and nonlinear, both collective and individual. Healing is political, it is powerful, and it is our birthright.

Organizing

Organizing is how we make our collective dreams a reality.
A set of tools that we use to build power and shift resources within our communities by bringing people together to learn, create relationships, address common goals, and meet community needs.

Political Education

Political Education is the collective study, analysis, and reflection that strengthens our organizing.
Engaging in political education helps us learn from the mistakes of those who came before us, and teaches us how to build lasting movements that truly transform systems of oppression. It also helps us create shared language, strategies, and visions for the future.
