Healing Justice

Circles and Trainings

Community Building Circles

Join our weekly community building circles! This is a generative space where we practice what it means to be in right relationship with ourselves, each other, and the land.

Our in-person circles are held in a restorative justice format by Jo Bauen, Ray Evans, and Kari Malkki. We ask folks to provide proof of vaccination and wear masks to attend.

Circle Keeping Trainings

We offered a Free training in March:

Intro to Circle-Keeping & Restorative Practices Training

Stay tuned for upcoming trainings!

Register

In this training, you will…

Learn key concepts and principles of restorative justice practices.

Explore the ways in which your identities and experiences shape your relationship to justice, power, safety, and healing.

Build the skills you need to use restorative practices and hold circles in your community.

What to Expect
Restore Oakland’s Healing Justice Team — Ray Evans, Jo Bauen, and Kari Malkki — will facilitate the three part series.

The training will utilize experiential learning, including role-plays, discussion and reflection, and practice sitting in and facilitating circles. We welcome the collective wisdom and expertise of everyone in the room, and seek to uplift Black, Brown, system-impacted, disabled, and otherwise marginalized people’s experiences.

At this time, we plan to hold the training indoors and will require participants to be fully vaccinated and masked.

Access
Restore Oakland’s space is wheelchair accessible. Trainings will be held in English. Additional access information can be found in the registration form, where you are also welcome to share other access needs or questions.

Please send any additional questions to communitybuilding510@gmail.com.

Healing Justice Campaigns

Healing Justice is a reminder to social movements that the concept of action should be expanded to support the self-determination, interdependence, resilience & resistance of those most impacted by oppression.

Join our weekly community building circles! We believe that real change happens in circle, and we want to see that grow. This will be open to all with a special outreach to formerly incarcerated and system impacted individuals.
